An antique example of the Pattern 1854 Infantry Officers sword was made by Firmin & Sons, numbered 1313 on the back edge) in London and has their address etched onto the blade along with their proof mark set into the Star of David. The gilt brass hilt has the royal cypher and crown of Queen Victoria (1837 - 1901) pierced into the basket guard. The fish skin grip does have some wear, and a piece missing near to the pommel, is held in by brass twist wire. The single fuller blade tapers to a spear point and has the royal crown and VR etched into it along with various floral motifs. The steel scabbard does have rust spots and pitting . Overall Length - 39". Blade Length - 33".
