An Ottoman Balkan Yataghan Sabre, with slightly curved blade decorated on each side in silver with a calligraphic panel, enclosed by scrollwork. The base of the blade enclosed by a pair of gilt brass panels decorated with expanded flowerheads and extending to form the backstrap, the hilt fitted with a pair of horn grip scales rising to a large eared pommel. In its leather covered wooden scabbard with large brass mounts. Blade length 60cm, overall length 77cm.
