Bastin slide-action system, the underlever of push-forward form, the lever hook with built up end section, slender carved serpentine pinfire fences, non-rebounding back-action locks, the large dolphin hammers with pinfire cartridge extraction apertures. Border and acanthus scroll engraving, the lockplates signed PURDEY.

- Description: No. 1 of a pair of Bastin-patent slide-action pinfire guns
- Weight: [Not Recorded]
- Calibre: 12 bore
- Barrels: 30in.
- Choke: Both Cylinder
- Stock: [Not Recorded]
Notes: The Dimension Book suggests the pair were originally built for an H. Bristowe, and were then split, with the No. 2 gun being sold to W.H. Wakefield. However, the Pattern Book suggests that both guns were completed for Shutleworth.
