A Rare Antique American 18 Bore Double Barrelled Flintlock Sporting Gun, circa 1810, by John Justice of Cactus Creek, Rutherford County, North Carolina. Browned watered barrels, the underside marked W HOOD. Barrel length 82cm, overall length 123cm.
A Rare Antique American 18 Bore Double Barrelled Flintlock Sporting Gun, circa 1810, by John Justice of Cactus Creek, Rutherford County, North Carolina. Browned watered barrels, the underside marked W HOOD, possibly the barrel marker from Brecon who emigrated to the USA. The breeches with platinum plugs, the locks signed Justice, and engraved with a rising duck. Semi rainproof pans, engraved cocks, the frizzens with roller bearing springs. Walnut half stock with chequered wrist. The trigger guard engraved with a duck, pineapple finial and throat pipe. Pale wood ramrod with worm. Barrel length 82cm, overall length 123cm.
