A nice example of a Pattern 1897 infantry Officers Sword from the reign of George VI (1936 - 1952) having a straight blade etched on both sides with the Royal cypher and scrolling foliage.
A nice example of a Pattern 1897 infantry Officers Sword from the reign of George VI (1936 - 1952) having a straight blade etched on both sides with the Royal cypher and scrolling foliage.
The three-quarter basket hilt bears the King George VI cipher beneath the crown. The blade is in very fine condition and is complete with original brown leather scabbard.
Blade Length - 81.5cm. Overall Length - 104cm.
** This pattern has been the regulation sword for officers of the line infantry of the British Army from 1897 to the present day.
