An antique 16 Bore Pinfire Double Barrelled Sporting Gun, by J.Sanders of Loughborough, circa 1865. With browned damascus 72cm barrels, the top-rib signed in inlet silver letters JNO SANDERS LOUGHBOROUGH, shallow fences, long two-staged borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, scroll engraved rounded action body, unusual elongated border and scroll engraved back-action isolated locks signed JOHN SANDERS, scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers, chequered walnut butt-stock, chequered heel with iron heel and toe plates, possibly decorative wood inlet to comb, iron furniture, Jones type swing underlever and chequered walnut splinter fore-end, strong amount of original colour and finish remaining especially in sheltered areas. Overall length, 112cm. The gun was probably originally a muzzle loader and converted to a very high standard with very high standard engraving. In full working order.
