An antique Turkish 18 bore silver mounted miquelet lock gun. Late 18th century.
An antique Turkish 18 bore silver mounted miquelet lock gun. Late 18th century.
Russet twisted, octagonal sighted barrel 89cm. Decorated with symmetrical designs of encrusted gold scrolling foliage at the muzzle and breech, the latter with a gold band within beaded gold borders, and retained by seven foliate engraved silver barrel bands, arched standing backside with gold barrel ensuite with the breech.
Overall length 126cm. Characteristic lock with gold encrusted decoration, mounted with foliate engraved silver, and set along the top with four red coral beads.
Figured Circassian walnut full stock decorated overall with pierced silver panels secured by silver pins and engraved with foliage. Faceted butt ensuite and with an engraved silver mount behind the barrel, silver faceted button trigger, brass sling loops, silver for end cap and original ramrod with spirally grooved upturned brass stick. An extremely good example.
