A Pair Of Percussion Target Pistols Of Small Bore By Jackson, Princes Street, London, Mid-19th Century. With browned twist octagonal sighted barrels each engraved with makers address along the top flat, border engraved case-hardened breeches each decorated with a foliate scroll on the top flat.
Border engraved tangs each with back-sight and decorated with foliate scrollwork. Signed border engraved case-hardened flat locks and dolphin hammers decorated en suite, the latter each with safety-catch behind. Finely figured half-stocks each with chequered rounded butt, blued trigger-guards each decorated with foliate scrollwork on the border engraved bow, case-hardened trigger-plates each with pineapple finial, vacant silver escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons. Dark horn fore-end caps, original steel tipped ramrods, and some original finish. London proof marks. Barrels 28cm, overall length 44cm.
The maker is almost certainly Richard Jackson recorded at 19 Princes Street, Portman Market, London between 1831 and 1846.
