A Pair of 22 Bore Flintlock Boxlock Pistols by A. Elston of Doncaster. Circa 1785. With 14cm turn off cannon barrels, overall length 32cm. Bright border engraved actions each signed on a scroll on one side and decorated with rocailles and foliage. Sliding trigger guard safety catches each engraved with a flowerhead on the bow. Swelling rounded butts inlaid with silver wire scrollwork and rocailles, and border engraved rounded tutenag butt caps. Private Birmingham proof marks. Abraham Elston is recorded working in Doncaster between 1783 and 1793.
