A Fine Greek Silver Gilt Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistol (Zladka) Bokor Kotorska, first half of the 19th century. With tapering 28.8cm barrel, formed in three stages, inscribed with a fake European signature and stamped with imitation proof marks on the left of the breech.
A Fine Greek Silver Gilt Mounted Flintlock Holster Pistol (Zladka) Bokor Kotorska, first half of the 19th century. With tapering 28.8cm barrel, formed in three stages, inscribed with a fake European signature and stamped with imitation proof marks on the left of the breech. The muzzle retained by a broad band cast and chased with a strapwork frame involving foliage and flowers against a finely punched ground. Lightly engraved stepped bevelled lock fitted with cock decorated en suite. Full silver gilt stock decorated en suite with the muzzle band and with a trophy of arms beneath the breech, a vase beneath the lock and a butt with integral spirally fluted pommel decorated with garlands. Broad silver gilt trigger guard decorated with a bird of prey and imitation ramrod.
A pair of similarly decorated pistols was owned by the distinguished Greek general, Petros Mavromichalis (Petrovey), circa 1765 to 1848. For a discussion of these and other Bokor Kotorska Firearms, see L. Good, 2009, page 92-100. This is a very unusually good pistol in perfect working order.
