The No.5 Bayonet was the bayonet used with the No 5 Lee-Enfield which is nicknamed the ""Jungle carbine"". Four companies (Wilkinson, Viners Ltd, Radcliffe and Elkington & Co Ltd) were initially contracted to make them between March 1944 and December 1947. This example is one of the rarer ones produced ar the Royal Ordnance Factory, Poole. The bayonet is marked with the letter P in a circle on the ricasso along with the date of 1946 indicating it was made at the ROF Poole.
It has the war department arrow with an inspection mark on the top of the pommel along side F3. The bayonet retains most of its blued finish on the pommel and cross guard with its two piece wooden grips intact and in good condition. The black metal scabbard is in good condition with a little pitting consumate with age. Presented in a canvas frog. Blade length - 20cm. Overall Length - 33cm.
