An antique Pair of 48 Bore Flintlock Pocket Pistols Signed H.W. Mortimer, Gun Maker to his majesty circa 1795, with round 6cm. turn off barrels, engraved band at the join, London proofs, squared boxlock actions signed H.W. MORTIMER LONDON in a banded oval on the left and GUN MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY in a similar oval on the right, central cocks, semi rainproof pans, sliding safes to the top-tangs surrounding the cocks and also locking the pans when engaged, walnut slab-sided butts and concealed automatic triggers. Overall length 17 1/2cm
Provenance: there is a possibility that these pistols may also be the work of the elusive Harvey Walklate Mortimer Jnr.
