An antique example of the Yataghan sword bayonet for use on the 11 mm. M1866 Chassepot needle-fire rifle designed by Antoine Alphonse Chassepot. The long, slightly curved single edged blade has age related patina along with a couple of inspection stamps on the blade close to the crossguard. The brass grip and pommel have some age related patina but are complete. The metal scabbard is complete and also has aged related patina.
Overall Length - 72cm. Blade Length - 56 1/2 cm.
