A pattern 1888 Mk. 1 Type 2 bayonet for use with the .303 calibre M1888 Lee-Metford and Long Lee-Enfield rifles. This particular example was made by Wilkinson. There are various inspection marks along with the War Department acceptance stamp, a large X indicating it has undergone bend tests. The hilt has a rack number of 142 over 17 over 7. The blade is in very good condition, the wooden grips are also in good condition and the push release button works. The black leather scabbard has metal mouthpiece and chape with patina and comes with an original leather frog.
Blade Length - 30cm. Overall Length - 44cm.
