A single barrelled 14 bore shotgun with wire twisted barrels, 76cm, signed Strood (Stroud), in gold. Breech engraved with dogs and pheasant, with engraving on top of the barrel flats, with dogs chasing birds. Half octagonal, half round barrel. Drum and nipple conversion. Top tang engraved well, butt plate in silver, engraved. Lock engraved, and signed Crundwell.
A single barrelled 14 bore shotgun with wire twisted barrels, 76cm, signed Strood (Stroud), in gold. Top tang engraved well, butt plate in silver, engraved. Lock engraved, and signed Crundwell. Stocked in walnut, chequered at grip and fore end, engraved, scrolled trigger guard with pineapple finial. Escutcheon in gold, signed. Having a London style loading rod, nipple cleaners, spring clamp, oil bottle, wad cutter, and original percussion cap tin, with a superb matching powder flask and shot flask by Dixon. In its original case, lined in red baize.
Crundwell, John, worked in 1823 in conjunction with David Lawrence, granted British patent no. 5845 of 15 September 1829, for a side acting percussion lock.
