An Antique Pair of 28 bore Flintlock Turn Off Pistols by Joiner of London. Birmingham silver hallmarks for 1779, and makers mark of Charles Freeth. Brass cannon barrels, 13.5cm, overall length 31.5cm. Border engraved Boxlock actions, each signed on a foliate rocaille over each side, sliding trigger guard safety catches, each engraved with a flower head on the bow. Figured rounded swelling butts each inlaid with silver wire scrollwork. Vacant silver escutcheons and silver grotesque mask butt caps, tower private proof marks. A very nice pair of pistols.
