A 20 bore double barrelled percussion travelling pistol by Wm. Pipe of 8 Market Street, Manchester, circa mid-19th century with browned damascus twist sighted barrels signed in full along the rib, stamped P&S on the bottom rib, and struck with Birmingham proof marks, border engraved case-hardened breeches each with pierced platinum plug, the foliate scroll engraved flat between with two gold lines, border engraved case-hardened tang decorated with foliate scrollwork, signed border engraved back-action locks and dolphin hammers (one spur repaired) en suite, the latter each with blued safety-catch behind.

Figured half-stock with chequered rounded butt, blued serial numbered trigger-guard decorated with foliate scrollwork on the border engraved bow, trigger-plate with foliate scroll engraved finial, rear ramrod-pipe en suite, vacant white-metal escutcheon, and original copper-alloy mounted ramrod with threaded cap over the worm. In good working order.
