A 3rd pattern Fairburn - Sykes commando knife made by William Rodgers of Sheffield. The straight double edged blade is of the thin type and exhibits scratches from the machine finishing of the blade typical of late war manufacture. It is slightly best towards the tip and their is a tiny amount of rust pitting too.The guard is thinner, again typical of the 3rd pattern, and bears the stamp - WILLIAM RODGERS SHEFFIELD ENGLAND. The ringed grip has some of its original black finish remaining but does have signs of use as it to be expected with these knives. The leather scabbard is in good condition with the elastic retaining strap still intact and a black painted chape.
Overall Length - 32.5cm. Blade Length - 17.5cm.
