"This is a rare sword bayonet for the pattern 1855 Lancaster Carbine. The quill-backed blade has numerous markings including birmingham proof marks, war department arrows as well as a Birmingham repair mark and a large crisp X indicating the blade has undergone bending tests. The brass hilt is marked up to the R.A.M.C with a rack number of 264. There is evidence of a repair to the grip, the blade is in very good condition. No scabbard.
