Presented with no scabbard is this Yataghan sword bayonet for use on the 11 mm. M1866 Chassepot Needlefire rifle designed by Antoine Alphonse Chassepot. The long, slightly curved single edged blade has age related patina, some nicks to the cutting edge along with a couple of inspection stamps on the crossguard along with RS 78490 stamped on it. The brass grip and pommel have some age related patina but are complete. Overall Length - 70cm. Blade Length - 57.5cm.
