How are military bolt action rifles deactivated?

The barrel is blocked, pinned and cut. The bolt face is ground away at a angle along with the firing pin. The bolt can move within the gun, but cannot be removed. The trigger may move, but there will be no connection between it and the bolt, so the gun will not cock or dry fire.
