A 28-bore flintlock silver-mounted pistol by J. & W. Richards Of Birmingham. With octagonal brass barrel with silver fore-sight and engraved with a line of beadwork at the rear of the breech, engraved tang, signed border engraved flat bevelled lock with large roller (spring fractured), figured full stock with flat-sided rounded butt stamped 35 on one side, mounts comprising oval side-nail plate engraved with later initials, trigger-guard with acorn finial and engraved with a martial trophy on the bow, turned ramrod-pipes, and original horn-tipped ramrod, Tower private proof marks. Birmingham Silver Hallmarks For 1793, Makers Mark Of Charles Freeth.
Barrel Length - 20cm. Overall Length - 33cm.
** Provenance - Joseph & William Richards are recorded in Birmingham between 1799 and 1817 where they had a factory. Between 1808 and 1810 they are recorded at 16 Staining Lane, London. Joseph is recorded carrying on the business alone in Birmingham between 1815 and 1830
