A very rare 64 bore pinfire Bentley patent sporting rifle, mid-19th century. With octagonal sighted barrel sliding forward for loading and operating by a hinged lever beneath, secured by a sprung catch.
A very rare 64 bore pinfire Bentley patent sporting rifle, mid-19th century. With octagonal sighted barrel sliding forward for loading and operating by a hinged lever beneath, secured by a sprung catch. The boarder engraved breech, tang, back action lock, hammer and mounts all decorated with foliate scroll work. The lock engraved Bentleys Patent. Highly figured stock with chequered grip and silver escutcheon, engraved with owners crest. Birmingham black powder proof marks. Barrel measuring 74.3cms and overall length of 115cms.
