A cased .40 bore percussion transitional revolver by Rodolphus Egan of Bradford, circa late 1850s. With polygroove rifled octagonal sighted barrel 10.2cms, signed along the top flat.
A cased .40 bore percussion transitional revolver by Rodolphus Egan of Bradford, circa late 1850s. With polygroove rifled octagonal sighted barrel 10.2cms, signed along the top flat. Cylinder engraved with foliate scrolls around the forward edge. Foliate scroll engraved action. Offset bar hammer and trigger guard. Ovoidal butt cap with hinged circular butt trap cover. Engraved with a flower head. Finely chequered figured rounded butt. Vacant silver escutcheon and faint traces of original finish in places. In original lined and fitted mahogany case with accessories including: powder flask, combined steel bullet mould and rammer, nipple key and cleaning rod. The interior of the lid with makers trade label. The exterior with vacant circular brass escutcheon. London proof marks. Overall length 27.5cms.
Egan is recorded in Bradford, Yorkshire between 1829 and 1857. The trade label gives the address as Hustlergate, Bradford.
