A pair of 22-bore flintlock Queen Anne pistols by I. Scamadine of London, circa 1725 with two-stage cannon barrels each turned at the girdle and at the ramp at the rear of the breech, signed beneath each steel-spring and chiselled with a foliate finial forward of the tapering bottom flat, plain tangs each secured by a screw behind the trefoil over the breech and engraved with a further foliate finial beyond.

A pair of 22-bore flintlock Queen Anne pistols by I. Scamadine of London, circa 1725 with two-stage cannon barrels each turned at the girdle and at the ramp at the rear of the breech, signed beneath each steel-spring and chiselled with a foliate finial forward of the tapering bottom flat, plain tangs each secured by a screw behind the trefoil over the breech and engraved with a further foliate finial beyond.

Rounded cocks, chiselled and engraved with foliage, trigger-guards both also forming the rear ramrod-pipe, moulded figured swelling butts each carved in low relief with foliage around the barrel tang, cast and chased silver mounts comprising side-plates each pierced with scrolling foliage terminating in a monster-head, and lion-mask and acanthus butt-caps, swelling forward ramrod-pipes, and later horn-topped ramrods (some wear and light pitting overall). It is rare to find pistols of this style with ramrods.

**Scamadine (also Skamaden) is recorded as Foreign gunmaker allowed to prove guns by the London Gunmakers Company between 1721 and 1728.
