Details

An antique 25 bore Royal Hanoverian percussion sporting rifle made for a prince or royal duke by Tanner in Hanover circa 1820. Tapering barrel rifled with 8 grooves, 78.7cm. Fitted with moulded silver foresight and folding backsight retained by slender barrel band. Engraved breech, engraved breech tang, signed scroll and border engraved lock. Double set trigger, figured walnut half stock. Chequered for-end and grip, carved cheek piece. Engraved steel mounts, for-end and grip. Trigger guard decorated with a door on the bore and pineapple finale. Butt plate silver escutcheon engraved with a crest of blood royal and original brass tipped ramrod. Overall length, 117.7cm.
